Great Lakes Science Center, located on the shores of Lake Erie next to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, is one of America’s largest interactive science museums. Hundreds of hands-on exhibits, larger-than-life OMNIMAX films, and live demonstrations make the Science Center an amusement park for the mind!
Renewable Energy Exhibits
Towering 150 feet into the air, the iconic wind turbine in front of the Science Center represents the growing importance of renewable energy in our daily lives. Coupled with a 300-foot solar array canopy representing Great Lakes Science Center’s second advanced energy initiative, the two renewable energy resources provide 6% of the Science Center’s daily power supply. Experiment with more than 100 hands-on exhibits that satisfy and delight the curious scientist in each of us. Explore the science of light, optics, sound, resonance, motion, mechanics, electricity, magnetism and weather. Featured exhibits include:

Return to the Moon Gallery
Body (regular type): In commemoration of the 40th anniversary of Apollo 11’s landing on the moon, Great Lakes Science Center opened its newest gallery on July 20, 2009 featuring NASA’s Constellation Program. With more than 20 interactive exhibits, Return to the Moon takes visitors on their own spacewalk with some amazing hands-on experiences. Click here to learn more about the gallery.
BioMedTech Gallery
This newly remodeled gallery opens its doors to the latest technologies in medicine. Explore DNA testing, medical imaging (CAT scan, PET scan, MRI), prosthetics, infectious disease, and stem cell research. For more information on the BioMedTech Gallery, click here.
The Cleveland Clinic OMNIMAX Theater
Our OMNIMAX Theater features a six-story-high, domed theater with 11,600 watts of digital sound. You’ll feel like you’re actually in these educational adventure films shot in IMAX, the world’s largest film format. Visit the OMNIMAX web page to see what’s playing now!
The Steamship William G. Mather Museum
Discover what life aboard a working Great Lakes freighter was like as you tour this restored 618-foot historic flagship. Explore the 1925-built Mather and see its huge cargo holds, brass and oak pilot house, elegant guest quarters, and four-story engine room. Walk the decks and marvel at the “engineering firsts” that helped transform Northeast Ohio in to a great industrial center. Experience the golden era of steamboats on one of the best! The Polymer Funhouse
Just for those 7 and under, Polymer Funhouse lets young kids stretch, shake, build, pull and play with polymers of all types, and features the ever-popular ball pit. Port Polymer, the outdoor play area, is located on the outdoor deck adjacent to the Polymer Funhouse, overlooking North Coast Harbor. Port Polymer is open seasonally as the weather permits. CaFé
The Elements CaFé on the lower level features soups, salads and sandwiches, weekly specials and Pizza Hut personal pan pizzas.
