Teacher Preview Event - FREE

Great Lakes Science Center is hosting an event just for teachers. Come to a special teacher preview and see the Strange Matter exhibition for free.
The evening also includes a free screening of our new OMNIMAX film, Under the Sea and complimentary refreshments. Meet our education staff and get a
head start on planning your next field trip.

Extreme Science Night

This Father’s Day event (held on the night before Father’s Day) is filled with extreme science fun! See the Strange Matter exhibition, tour
the Steamship William G. Mather, watch an OMNIMAX movie and enjoy lots of cool hands-on activities that explore all sorts of really strange

Summer Camps
Get your hands on some really strange matter with these fun and educational summer day camps. Most camps take place at Great Lakes Science Center, but some camps are also offered at Laurel School.
Icky Sticky (preschoolers, ages 3-4)
June 21-25 or July 19-23 (Great Lakes Science Center)
Mix up cool concoctions that are icky, sticky and gross! Will your mixture fizz, bubble or explode? Mix, pour and stir your way to chemistry fun.
Chemical Connections (grades K-1)
June 28-July 2 or August 2-6 (Great Lakes Science Center)
Experiment with acids and bases, make slime and solutions that glow in the dark! Create concoctions that change before your eyes.
Messy Mixtures (grades K-1 and 2-3)
June 14-18 (Laurel School, Lyman campus, grades K-1 and 2-3)
July 5-9 or August 9-13 (Great Lakes Science Center, grades 2-3 only)
Will it fizz, bubble or explode? Observe physical and chemical reactions as you mix and pour messy mixtures.
Experimenting with Elements (grades 6-8)
June 14-18 (Laurel School, Lyman campus)
July 26-30 (Great Lakes Science Center)
Learn about chemical formulas, test different reactions and discover the explosive world of chemistry. Turn everyday household items into something really cool.
Materials Science (grades 6-8)
June 28-July 2 (Great Lakes Science Center)
June 28-July 1 (Laurel School, Lyman campus)
Use physics, chemistry and engineering to create polymers, explore thermodynamics and perform impact tests. Take a field trip to the Materials Park in Geauga County.
