Back for year two! Our immersive science program is geared towards exceptional students in 6th grade. Designed as a hands-on, fun and challenging learning experience, Great Science Academy brings students together once a month on Saturdays to explore science, technology, engineering and mathematics. Sessions last from 9 am to 4 pm, October through August.
- Explore Great Lakes-themed topics learn how to plan a city around a lake, find out what kinds of creatures live in Lake Erie, investigate environmental challenges and more.
- Meet the experts work with local scientists, city officials and professionals whose jobs revolve around Lake Erie
- Discover the places where science happens every day take field trips to centers such as Old Woman Creek Estuary, and investigate Clevelands connection to the lake by sailing down the Cuyahoga River, visiting the Coast Guard and Cleveland Water Treatment Plant and participating in local beach research and preservation.
- Tap into your inner scientist create and investigate your own living biome, build underwater robots and engage in many other hands-on activities while making new friends!
- Bonus camps and program continuation registration includes 1 week of scheduled Great Science Academy Summer Camp, 2 days of Winter Break Camp (pick any 2 days), 1 end-of-year scheduled sleepover and automatic renewal into year two of the program Space and Aeronautics.

For Grade 7
Our 6th grade class is ready for year two! New students will join participating scholars from last years program to continue their fun and challenging learning experience. Great Science Academy will continue to bring scholars together once a month on Saturdays to explore science, technology, engineering and mathematics, but with a new topic space and aeronautics. Sessions last from 9 am to 4 pm, October through August.
- Explore topics on space and aeronauticss learn about the physics behind flight and plan what a colony on Mars might need.
- Meet the experts meet astronauts, pilots and engineers whose jobs revolve around space and aeronautics.
- Discover the places where science happens every day travel to the NASA Glenn Research Center, research and development labs and other locations.
- Tap into your inner scientist work with friends to send weather balloons miles into the atmosphere, design and launch rockets and much more.
- Bonus camps and program continuation registration includes 1 week of scheduled Great Science Academy Summer Camp, 2 days of Winter Break Camp (pick any 2 days), 1 end-of-year scheduled sleepover and automatic renewal into year three of the program Biomedical Technology.
