Fall Classes 2012
Let’s get our hands messy this fall! Our classes are the perfect way for kids and families to learn about science and have fun at the same time. Please follow registration instructions listed with each program below. For questions, call 216-621-2400.
Mad Scientist 101
NEOEA One Day Camp
Friday, October 12
8:30 am – 3:30 pm
Explore the science behind all things spooky! Investigate the creatures that haunt Halloween and conduct experiments using electricity and chemistry! Enjoy the OMNIMAX film, Flying Monsters. Extended care and lunch are available for an extra fee. Grades K – 8. $42 ($39 members). Includes admission to Great Lakes Science center. Click here to register.
Brick-or-Treat LEGO Workshop
Saturday, October 13

1 – 4 pm
Create creepy crawly creations and program them to trick, treat or scare! Build your own Halloween creation and control a robotic arm to pick out candy. Learn the basics of robotics using LEGO Mindstorm NXT kits. Grades 4 – 8. $20 ($15 members). Includes admission to Great Lakes Science Center. Click here to register.
Family Science: Dissection Discovery
Saturday, October 13
2 – 3:30 pm
Dissect a cow eye and explore the wonders of the eye – up close! Trained staff will be on hand to demonstrate so parents can help younger children. Ages 6+ with an adult. $16 ($5 members). Includes admission to Great Lakes Science Center. Fee includes participation for one child/adult pair. Additional adult or child is $3. Minors must be accompanied by an adult. Click here to register.
Family Science: Science of Cool
Saturday, December 15

2 – 3:30 pm
Bring the snow inside and perform cold-weather experiments with liquid nitrogen and dry ice! Learn about cryogenics and study temperatures that are ‑238°F and below. $16 ($5 members). Includes admission to Great Lakes Science Center. Fee includes participation for one child/adult pair. Additional adult or child is $3. Minors must be accompanied by an adult. Click here to register.
Just for Homeschoolers!
NEW! Homeschool Workshop – Robotics
Tuesday, October 9
1 – 3 pm
Experience robotics in a whole new way using the latest in LEGO NXT technology! Use sensors and motors to design, build, program and test a robot to navigate an obstacle course. Ages 9 and up. Minors must be accompanied by an adult. $10. Fee includes participation for one child/adult pair. Register by calling 216-621-2400.
NEW! Homeschool Day
Monday, October 22
10 am – 2 pm
Enjoy a day at the Science Center – just for homeschool families! Interact with hundreds of hands-on exhibits, explore the NASA Glenn Visitor Center and more! Participate in special math and science activities, which are included with admission. Science workshops are available for all ages for an extra fee. Regular rates apply for Science Center admission.
