Facing Mars Overnight Camp-ins
January - April

Do you have what it takes to go to the red planet? Find out at this overnight adventure! Spend a night at the Science Center and explore the exhibition Facing Mars. Feel what it’s like to walk on Mars, stir up a mini Martian dust storm and try your hand at space surgery. Discover more than 50 space-themed exhibits in the NASA Glenn Visitor Center. Watch an OMNIMAX® movie, enjoy a late-night snack and then sleep among the exhibits – don’t forget your pajamas! Breakfast and all-day admission to the Science Center is included the next day.

Our overnight camp-ins are great for scout groups, youth groups, school groups and families. Cost is $39 per person.

All camp-ins begin at 6:30 pm. All camp-ins are overnights unless otherwise noted.

Mars Rover Up Close and Personal

January 29 – September 5

We’ve teamed up with NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory to bring you a full-scale model of a Mars Exploration Rover. Now you can get a good look at this amazing super performer that has outlived all of NASA’s predictions. Don't miss this exciting "opportunity" to get into the "spirit" of Mars exploration!


Teacher Open House - FREE

Thursday, February 3
5 – 7 pm

Come to a special teacher preview and see Facing Mars for free. Experience the physical, psychological and scientific challenges of traveling to and living on Mars. Explore interactive exhibits about rocket and spacecraft design, surviving in space and finding life on Mars. The evening also includes a free screening of an OMNIMAX film and complimentary refreshments. Meet our education staff and get a head start on planning your next field trip.

Present-Day Mars: From Moonscape to Desert to Tundra
Tuesday, February 22

Presented by Dr. Maria Zuber, E. A. Griswold Professor of Geophysics and head of the Department of Earth, Atmospheric and Planetary Sciences at MIT.

World renowned planetary geophysicist Maria Zuber will review the history of spacecraft exploration of Mars and explain how the increasing sophistication and diversity of observations has caused a dramatic change in our view of the present state and climate history of the Red Planet. Includes free admission to Facing Mars.
