Lake Erie Sails

Back by popular demand! Take an exciting two-hour lake excursion aboard
the 65-foot schooner, Appledore V. Experience the sailing life and learn about navigation, knot tying and Lake Erie ecology. Ticket price

Embark on a voyage of discovery and celebrate the Great Lakes region in
this OMNIMAX film. Visit the habitats of the caribou, bald eagle and
lake sturgeon and explore the eco-system of our “inland seas.”

Sink or Float
Kids learn about density by experimenting with objects that sink or
float. Ideal for our youngest visitors.
What’s in Lake Erie?
Become a lake scientist and look through a microscope to see the tiny
plants and animals that live in a drop of water.
What’s in a Fish?
Look closely at the anatomy of a fish and learn about the adaptations
that make life in the water look easy.
Steamship William G. Mather Museum
Climb aboard this historic Great Lakes freighter, and explore its huge
cargo holds, brass and oak pilot house, elegant guest quarters and
four-story engine room. Learn more about the Mather.

Electrofishing boat display
July 6, 8, 10
11 am - 3 pm
See the boat used on our waterways by water quality investigators to catch and
identify various fish.
Fish and Bugs Survey
July 6, 8, 10
11 am - 3 pm
Perform a stream biological survey and get to know the various insects and fish that are found in our local waterways. This hands-on exhibit introduces
visitors to the different types of insects found in our streams and shows why
they are important. Get up close and personal with a Fathead Minnow, and see
their life cycle from eggs through fish.
pH and you
July 6
11 am – 3 pm
Learn about the basic concepts of pH and discover how it affects your
environment. This hands-on activity allows visitors to test various household
products to determine if they are acids or bases. Visitors can also perform a
simple acid base titration.
Make Slime
July 8
11 am – 3 pm
Hands-on fun! Chemical reactions occur everywhere, but who would have thought
they could make something so FUN? Make slime by mixing chemicals together, and
then take home your creation to show to family and friends.
Urban Water Cycle
July 10
11 am – 4 pm
Learn how the natural water cycle is affected by our urban environment and see
how pollution is transferred through the environment. Learn how our wastewater
treatment plant cleans the water and look through a microscope to see the
microorganisms that help clean our water.
